Soccer tournaments are a great way to
work a lot of games, meet new officials and generally have a good
time. Many will provide free or inexpensive lodging to out of
town officials.
Most local tournaments are USSF youth
tournaments and require USSF Level 8 Certification, unless otherwise noted.
The knock out stages of the youth State Cup usually will
require that you be a USSF Level 7 or higher referee. Teams are typically competitive travel teams, such as you would
encounter in GVSA or the MSPSL, although most events welcome all
teams under the USSF umbrella. "Full Length" games means a
tournament follows USSF recommendations (U10 = 50 minutes, U12 = 60
minutes, U14 = 70 minutes, U16= 80 minutes, U17+ = 90 minutes)
